Arsenal Ready to Sell Their Star Player to Premier League Club to Fund Summer Transfer Plans

Football Insider reports that Arsenal are considering allowing Reiss Nelson to leave for a fee ranging from £25 to £30 million, with Brighton emerging as a potential destination for the player.

In recent statements, David Ornstein has suggested that Arsenal supporters should anticipate an active summer transfer period. He has indicated that Mikel Arteta is keen on securing five new additions to the squad, with Nelson being one of the players likely to be offloaded to generate funds for incoming transfers.

Football Insider reports that Brighton are eager to welcome Nelson, seeing him as a valuable addition to their team. With admiration for the 24-year-old’s talent, the Seagulls view this as a clear opportunity to acquire him from Arsenal.

Brighton’s manager, Robert De Zerbi, has already envisioned how Nelson could fit into their system. If the move transpires, Nelson would likely be utilised as an inverted winger, similar to Kaoru Mitoma’s role.

While Nelson’s versatility in playing on both wings is advantageous, his chances of securing a regular starting position at Arsenal are slim, given the competition from players like Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.

Reiss Nelson

Considering Nelson’s limited playing time this season, with no league starts and only 23 appearances across all competitions amounting to 654 minutes, Arsenal may not feel a significant impact from his departure.

Given Nelson’s contractual situation, with four years remaining, a valuation of at least £25 million for his transfer seems reasonable from Arsenal’s perspective.

Upon breaking into Arsenal’s senior side in 2017, expectations soared for him. Nelson embarked on loan spells to Hoffenheim and Feyenoord to nurture his talent.

Upon his return to Arsenal, he aimed to vie for a spot in the starting lineup, yet securing one remained elusive. It’s regrettable, considering his latent capabilities, that he may have to seek opportunities elsewhere.

Nonetheless, his potential departure could present a mutually beneficial scenario; he could flourish with increased playing time elsewhere, while Arsenal could potentially acquire a superior replacement.
