OPINION: Arsenal Would Make a Huge Mistake Selling Arteta’s Favourite to Serie A Club This Summer

Arsenal’s stance on the potential sale of Jakub Kiwior to AC Milan this summer remains steadfast. Despite interest from the Italian club, the Gunners should not entertain the idea of parting ways with the Poland international.

Securing Kiwior from Spezia for €25 million in January of the previous year was a significant investment for Arsenal. However, his performances in the latter half of the season did not fully meet expectations, leading to some uncertainty surrounding his future at the club.

Although Kiwior encountered challenges earlier in the current campaign, he has since demonstrated a remarkable improvement in form. Particularly notable has been his solid contributions from the left-back position, showcasing his value to the team.

Reports from Gazzetta dello Sport, specifically on page 10, suggest that AC Milan maintain interest in acquiring Kiwior. Nevertheless, Arsenal appear reluctant to negotiate any discount on the original €25 million transfer fee paid to Spezia.

While there may be speculation about Arsenal’s willingness to sell Kiwior to AC Milan for the right price, it would be ill-advised for the club’s leadership to proceed with such a decision. Losing a player of Kiwior’s potential and current impact could prove detrimental to Arsenal’s squad dynamics and ambitions.

Arsenal Must Retain Kiwior Who Has Proved His Credentials

Kiwior established his reputation through stellar performances at Spezia and notably impressed for Poland during the World Cup, ultimately leading to his acquisition by the Gunners last year.

Although initially challenged by the transition to English football, the Anderlecht graduate has steadily adapted and excelled in recent months, primarily operating from the left-back position.

While primarily a left-sided centre-back, Kiwior has thrived in his role as a left-back, showcasing versatility and defensive prowess.

Given Ben White’s offensive role from the right-back position, Kiwior has predominantly focused on defensive responsibilities, resulting in notable improvement throughout the year.

Since February, Kiwior has contributed one goal and three assists, impressing further with his passing accuracy, aerial dominance, and defensive concentration.

His performance resurgence since the New Year has silenced critics, prompting the club to prioritise retaining him, barring a substantial transfer offer.

Considering his ability to seamlessly slot into central defense, left-back, and holding midfield, a €25m bid from Milan seems unjustifiable.

Under the guidance of manager Mikel Arteta, Kiwior has emerged as a fan favourite, making it imperative for the board to resist any urge to sell him.
