Report: Real Reason Why Obi-Martin Left Arsenal After Agreeing New Contract Revealed

Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth reports that Chido Obi-Martin’s decision to leave Arsenal was not driven by financial reasons.

The 16-year-old Danish youth international has decided to depart after spending four years at the North London club and is set to join Manchester United.

Despite Arsenal’s offer of enhanced terms to persuade him to stay, and an agreement being reached on the contract, Obi-Martin chose to move on due to concerns about the club’s future plans and his own potential progression into the first team.

He has decided that his career development would be better pursued elsewhere and will now evaluate his options before making a critical decision.

Obi-Martin concluded the 2023-24 season with an impressive tally of 32 goals and three assists across 20 under-18 Premier League matches for the Gunners.

He achieved five hat-tricks in the final nine games of the season and notably scored seven goals in a nine-goal victory against Norwich City.

Additionally, he netted 10 goals in a 14-3 triumph over Liverpool’s under-16s last November, and it appears that the Red Devils have secured his services despite strong competition.

Arsenal have had difficulty providing ample opportunities for their promising young players to showcase their abilities in the first team.

This issue is highlighted by the departure of Reuell Walters and Amario Cozier-Duberry, who left the club without making their official debuts.

They frequently trained with the senior team and were included in the matchday squad several times. However, manager Mikel Arteta remained unconvinced of their readiness to play for his squad.

Obi-Martin and his representatives might have been discouraged by the outcomes experienced by Walters and Cozier-Duberry. Arsenal could come to regret letting go of such a talented striker in the future.
