Report: Arsenal Eyeing Up “Explosive” Jonathan David Alternative Who Dreams of Joining the Club
Arsenal are reportedly seeking to enhance their attacking lineup by considering a move for a striker who dreams of joining The Emirates, as an alternative to Jonathan David, who has recently been linked with the club.
During the summer transfer window, the Gunners did not address what many see as a critical need for a dedicated goalscorer.
Although Kai Havertz has performed well at the start of the season, there may be growing concerns about whether Arsenal should have secured another attacking option.
Recent speculations indicate that Arsenal are exploring the possibility of acquiring Lille forward Jonathan David.
The Canada international is set to become a free agent when his contract with Lille expires next summer, which could allow Arsenal to pursue him without a significant transfer fee.
However, Arsenal are not the only side interested in David. Their North London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, and Newcastle United are also reported to be eyeing the 24-year-old, prompting Arsenal to consider other potential targets.
According to CaughtOffside, Arsenal might also target Brian Brobbey if their attempt to sign David does not succeed.
The Ajax forward, who is under contract until 2027 and earns £58k per week, would be a pricier option but has the potential to deliver performances comparable to those of David.
In addition, Brobbey mentioned in an interview with HELDEN Magazine in June that Arsenal among his dream clubs, highlighting his interest in a move to the Premier League giants.
When asked the question, saying: “Real Madrid, Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham, those are nice clubs. But, if I stay at Ajax, that is certainly not a punishment.”
Next summer, if Arsenal do not secure David, Brobbey might head to one of his preferred destinations.
“Explosive” Brobbey is a Star in the Making
At just 22 years old, Brobbey had a standout season with Ajax last year. Despite the team facing challenges, the young striker made a significant impact, scoring 22 goals and providing 12 assists across all competitions.
This impressive performance has caught the attention of Arsenal, as Brobbey’s potential to address their striker needs becomes evident.
Standing at 5ft 11in and noted for his “explosive power” by U23 scout Antonio Mango, Brobbey could be a strong candidate to resolve Arsenal’s striker issues for the foreseeable future.
As time will reveal, Arsenal might look back with regret at not pursuing a forward like Brobbey during the summer transfer window.
Given his form from the previous season, it’s clear that his addition could have been instrumental in narrowing the gap with Manchester City.
