Arsenal Handed Premier League Title Boost as Rival’s Key Player Suffer Major Injury Worry

Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne had to leave the pitch due to an injury in the first half of his team’s Champions League match against Inter Milan on Wednesday night.

During Manchester City’s goalless draw with Inter Milan in the Champions League, Kevin De Bruyne suffered an injury that raised concerns, just days before the Blues are scheduled to play Arsenal in the Premier League.

The Belgium international was seen limping off the pitch following a collision with Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer. Despite trying to overcome the injury, De Bruyne was unable to continue and did not return after the halftime break.

Manchester City will now be carefully assessing De Bruyne’s fitness ahead of their crucial Premier League clash with Arsenal on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have also been hit with an injury setback, as Martin Odegaard has been ruled out for several weeks. Scans have revealed ligament damage, which he sustained while on international duty.

Mikel Arteta rued: “After recent scans the scans showed that he’s got some damage especially on one of the ligaments in the ankle. We’re gonna miss him. We are going to have to deal with that and that’s a great test for the team as well.”

Arteta has confirmed that summer signing Riccardo Calafiori will be included in the squad after completing his training this week.

Meanwhile, Declan Rice is set to return, having served his red card suspension. However, Mikel Merino is still sidelined as he continues to recover from a shoulder injury.

Along with De Bruyne’s injury concerns, winger Savinho was taken off at half-time during the match against Inter Milan, though there was no indication of an injury for the Brazilian.

Manchester City currently lead the Premier League table with a flawless record, having won all four of their opening matches. Arsenal, who trail by two points, are preparing for a crucial clash on Sunday at the Etihad Stadium.

In the same fixture last season, both teams played out a 0-0 draw. Despite that, City were able to catch up with Arteta’s side and go on to secure their fourth consecutive Premier League title.
