“I Can Confirm” – Fabrizio Romano Shares Update He’s Now Hearing About Arsenal and “Møñstrous” Player

Arsenal have initiated early discussions with Gabriel Magalhaes about a new contract, aiming to secure the Brazilian defender’s stay at the club beyond 2027, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The Gunners seem to prioritise extending Gabriel’s contract shortly after confirming Mikel Arteta’s own renewal, although formal negotiations have yet to progress significantly toward ensuring the 26-year-old’s long-term future.

Romano reports that while discussions between Arsenal and Gabriel are in their initial phases, they have not reached an advanced stage where an agreement seems likely in the immediate future.

Gabriel’s performance in the recent 1-0 victory over Tottenham in the North London derby may strengthen Arsenal’s motivation to accelerate contract talks. His decisive second-half header secured three crucial points for Arsenal in the heated rivalry.

After the match, BBC football pundit Troy Deeney lauded the 26-year-old for a “monstrous” performance, as he netted his 15th league goal for Arsenal.

This season, Gabriel has started all four of Arsenal’s Premier League matches. He remains one of the six players who have played every minute under Mikel Arteta so far, along with David Raya, Ben White, William Saliba, Thomas Partey, and Kai Havertz.

Arsenal Talks at Early Stage for Gabriel

In his Daily Briefing, Romano disclosed that Arsenal began discussions with Gabriel regarding a new contract some time ago, but no agreement has been reached yet.

“Gabriel Magalhaes was the hero for Arsenal against Tottenham at the weekend.

“I can confirm more or less the same – it’s something at an early stage, with nothing particularly concrete so far. For sure Arsenal want to keep all their stars and Gabriel is one of them. It will be a topic in the next months, but nothing imminent.”

The 26-year-old player, who joined Arsenal from Lille in 2020, still has three years left on his current contract, which is set to expire in June 2027.

Arsenal might soon need to reassess Gabriel’s value to Mikel Arteta’s squad. According to Capology, Gabriel is currently ranked as the joint-16th highest earner in the team, with a weekly salary of £100,000.

Since his arrival four seasons ago, Gabriel has been a key player for Arsenal. He has made 172 appearances across all competitions and scored 16 goals, which is more than any other Arsenal defender during this period.
