“He’s All Over You”: Tony Cascarino Names Arsenal Player Who Reminds Him of “Martin Keown”
Arsenal are preparing for what could be considered one of their most crucial matches of the Premier League season.
This Sunday, the Gunners will travel to face Manchester City in a clash between the two teams most likely to win the title this year.
Although it is still early in the season for any match to be labeled a title decider, Arsenal will be keen to avoid falling further behind Manchester City at this stage.
Arsenal has already dropped two points in the league, whereas Manchester City has won all four of their games so far.
The Gunners have a respectable recent record against City, having secured two wins and a draw across all competitions, while conceding just one goal in those three encounters.
It’s clear that Arsenal’s defence will play a pivotal role in their chances against City, and Tony Cascarino has recently drawn attention to an Arsenal player, comparing him to a Martin Keown for his style of play.
Tony Cascarino Likens Arsenal’s Gabriel Magalhaes to Martin Keown
In an article for The Times, Cascarino selected his combined Manchester City and Arsenal XI, providing a detailed explanation for his picks.
For the center-back positions, he chose Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba. He characterised Magalhaes as being like a “rash” due to the way he aggressively marks opponents, making it hard for them to shake him off.
“This area was really difficult,” wrote Cascarino. “Manuel Akanji and Rúben Dias are excellent but I picked Gabriel because he’s like a rash.
“He reminds me of Martin Keown for being in your face and making it difficult as a centre forward. He’s all over you.”
Cascarino is not the only pundit to recently compare Gabriel to Keown; Rio Ferdinand also made this comparison following Arsenal’s draw with Atalanta.
