“Made Them Better” – Kevin Nolan says “Complete” Player Has Actually Taken Arsenal to Another Level
Arsenal have made an impressive start to the 2024-25 Premier League season, securing four wins and two draws from their first six games.
This solid performance puts them just a point behind league leaders Liverpool, despite having faced a challenging set of fixtures.
In a dramatic match against Leicester City, Mikel Arteta’s side claimed a 4-2 victory. The game was tied at 2-2 after regular time, but an own goal and a stoppage-time strike from Kai Havertz ensured Arsenal walked away with all three points.
Several Arsenal players have delivered standout performances this season, but one of the most intriguing stories has been the rise of David Raya. His contributions have solidified his role within the team.
Kevin Nolan has praised Raya, stating that the Spanish goalkeeper is among the best in the Premier League in his position.
Kevin Nolan Praises David Raya
Raya has played a crucial role for Arsenal this season, notably making a penalty save that helped the Gunners secure a draw in their opening UEFA Champions League match against Atalanta.
Nolan has observed significant improvement in Raya’s performance since his move from Brentford to Arsenal last summer, praising him as a ‘complete’ goalkeeper.
“When Arsenal bought David Raya, everyone went ‘Why are they buying him?’ Because Ramsdale had a great season but what he has done is he has made them better.,” said Nolan on BBC Sport.
“He has put Arsenal closer to Man City and now you look at him, he is a complete keeper. He makes really good saves, he can play with his feet.
“He is the one now who you look at and thinking who are your top two keepers. I always thought Alisson. Obviously Ederson at Man City, and then you have got Raya. He has taken Arsenal to another level.”
Aaron Ramsdale performed admirably as Arsenal’s primary goalkeeper during his tenure in the role.
However, since David Raya’s arrival at the club, he has solidified his position as the first-choice goalkeeper and has shown significant improvement over the last year.
At 29 years old, Raya has developed an excellent understanding with Arsenal’s defensive line. His contributions will be crucial as the team targets their first Premier League title in more than two decades.
