“Perfect” – Thierry Henry Impressed by Two Arsenal Players After Win Over PSG

Arsenal delivered a standout Champions League performance on Tuesday night, defeating Paris Saint-Germain in their Champions League clash.

Mikel Arteta’s team began their European campaign with a goalless draw against Atalanta, but they secured their first win of this new phase in the competition, a result they truly deserved.

On paper, Arsenal’s most challenging match in this revamped Champions League would seem to be their away games against Inter, the Italian champions, or Sporting Lisbon, the champions of Portugal.

Their home fixture against the Ligue 1 champions was also expected to be tough, but based on the performance that evening, PSG presented less of a challenge than anticipated under Luis Enrique’s leadership.

A key factor in PSG’s struggles was Arsenal’s ability to control the game, preventing their opponents from settling and securing an early goal.

Kai Havertz was the first to score, finding the net after 20 minutes. Bukayo Saka added another, giving Arsenal a 2-0 lead going into halftime.

From there, it was difficult to break down Arsenal’s defence, which is considered the strongest in England’s top flight. PSG managed only two shots on target during the match.

During the game, Thierry Henry and Micah Richards praised two standout players – the goalscorer and the assist provider.

Leandro Trossard delivered a superb cross that Havertz expertly finished, with Henry commending the Belgian’s “great work” and highlighting the timing of Havertz’s run.

Former Manchester City defender Richards also praised Trossard’s delivery, calling it “perfect” during his analysis on CBS Sports via Paramount+ (01/10/24 at 10:00 pm).

Thierry Henry and Micah Richards Praise Leandro Trossard and Kai Havertz After Arsenal Beat PSG

“Great work from Leandro Trossard,” said Henry. “You are going to see the usual run of Kai Havertz. Bukayo Saka is on the second post. Kai Havertz reads it well. What a delivery from Trossard and Havertz gets in the way before Donnarumma.”

Richards added: “Just look at the run in there, the way he is slowing up, then he goes quicker and slows up again for the timing. The ball was perfect.”

Henry then stated: “Trossard saw that, he couldn’t go too early or he would have been offside, so he timed his run and he does that ever so well. He scored a very similar goal against Wolves at the beginning of the season.”

This victory is a significant boost for Arsenal, particularly because of the manner in which they secured it and how composed they appeared against a formidable opponent.

However, the real challenges for Arsenal lie ahead, especially given their struggles away from home, which remain a greater concern than their performance in front of their home crowd.

Havertz continues to shine in Arsenal colors, the defense remains solid, Saka stands out as one of Europe’s top talents, and they’re achieving all this despite the absence of the injured Martin Odegaard.

With four points from their first two matches and two clean sheets, this start to the campaign should be viewed as a strong early success.
