0 Tackles & 0 Duels Won: Arteta Drops Huge Hint One Arsenal Star Will Be Dropped Soon

Arsenal secured their third consecutive victory with a 2-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain in last night’s Champions League match.

The Gunners controlled much of the first half and could have netted more than two goals given the opportunities they created.

In the second half, the focus shifted to maintaining their lead, which they did with relative ease by the final whistle.

Despite the victory, manager Mikel Arteta might consider making changes to his line-up. In our view, Thomas Partey could soon find himself benched.

Although the Ghanaian completed 27 out of 29 passes, he appeared hesitant in physical challenges and did not engage in a single duel during the match.

The £45 million signing also refrained from making any tackles, contributing just four recoveries and three interceptions before being substituted in the 64th minute.

Mikel Merino, who came on to make his Gunners debut in place of Partey, displayed much more energy in the number six role.

The Spanish midfielder won four duels and two tackles within 30 minutes of play. He also recorded three recoveries, two clearances, and completed six accurate passes.

It was an impressive first appearance for the former Real Sociedad player, and we believe it won’t be long before he replaces Partey in the starting lineup.

Arteta hinted that Merino could soon partner Declan Rice after bringing him on to replace Partey just after the hour mark.

This change may not occur against Southampton this weekend, as Merino has only had one full training session since recovering from a shoulder injury.

However, after the international break, the 28-year-old could become a key part of the manager’s starting plans.

Arsenal currently sit third in the Premier League standings with 14 points, just one point behind league leaders Liverpool.
