Report: Arsenal Have a Truly ‘Unbelievable’ Teenager Who Insiders Now View as the Future of the Team’s Attack
Arsenal are riding a wave of success and aim to maintain their impressive form when they face Southampton this weekend.
The Gunners remain unbeaten in all competitions this season and have secured three consecutive victories leading into Saturday’s Premier League clash with the Saints.
Among Arsenal’s talented young players is Ethan Nwaneri, who is rapidly gaining recognition within the first-team setup.
Nwaneri made history as the Premier League’s youngest-ever player when he made his debut against Brentford in 2022 at just 15 years and 181 days old.
Now, two years later, Nwaneri has excelled at both Under-18 and Under-21 levels, and is gradually being integrated into the first team.
The 17-year-old has already made three senior appearances this season, scoring twice in the Carabao Cup victory over Bolton.
Additionally, Nwaneri impressed with a strong performance during a cameo in the 4-2 win against Leicester City, and reports have now surfaced about how Arsenal insiders viewed his contribution on that occasion.
Arsenal Think Ethan Nwaneri is the Future of Gunners Attack
According to Miguel Delaney’s Reading the Game newsletter (4/10/2024, 12:30pm), the “wonder around Arsenal this weekend” is whether Nwaneri will get more minutes against Southampton.
There is a “real buzz from his introduction against Leicester”, which was seen as a kind of “showcase of why everyone is so excited about him.”
Delaney continued: “At a moment when Arsenal needed a goal, Nwaneri came on and immediately beat two players before forcing a save from distance.
“It just increased impetus in the team, although some of the staff were more impressed with his general game intelligence and the way he adapted.”
Delaney also wrote that “the 17-year-old is viewed as the future of the team’s attack”.
Nwaneri is truly an exceptional talent, and at just 17 years old, he is displaying all the qualities needed to grow into a top-tier Premier League player.
Typically, a 17-year-old involved in the Under-21 setup is considered a highly promising prospect. Being close to the first-team is even more impressive.
However, Nwaneri belongs to a rare group of young players who are already competing in senior-level football. It’s uncommon for players his age to reach this stage so early.
