Pre-season: Thomas Partey Gets 6.5 in Arsenal Player Ratings vs Bournemouth

Here is AFCN rates performance of Mikel Arteta’s players in their tour as they thrashed Bournemouth 5-4 on penalties after 1-1 draw in Los Angeles.

Arsenal Player Ratings vs Bournemouth

Karl Hein – 7/10

It’s encouraging to see Mikel Arteta place confidence in the 22-year-old Estonian by making him the first-choice keeper while Aaron Ramsdale and David Raya are participating in Euro 2024. However, the former Arsenal Academy graduate appeared unsteady on crosses. He was beaten by Dominic Solanke’s powerful shot that hit the bar at the half-hour mark and might have done more to stop Semenyo’s equalizer, despite it looping over for a 1-1 tie. He redeemed himself with an excellent save from Solanke during the penalty shootout.

Jurrien Timber – 7/10

It’s fantastic to see the skilled Dutch defender back in Arsenal’s lineup after nearly a season-long absence due to an ACL injury. He received a booking in the second half.

Ben White – 7/10

It’s worth noting that the defender has returned to first-team action after a restful summer, having been excluded from the England squad for Euro 2024. He faces a significant season ahead.

Ayden Heaven – 7/10

Always available to take and receive a pass, despite the lack of space at times.

Myles Lewis-Skelly – 7/10

He stood out during Arsenal U18s’ run to the FA Youth Cup final two seasons ago and kept up his strong performance last season, earning a better contract. Unlike some of his peers, he signed it eagerly, ready to make his mark at the first-team level in the coming season. His dedication was clear in the game against the Cherries, which was great to witness.

Thomas Partey – 6.5/10

There are numerous uncertainties about the former Atletico Madrid midfielder. One major concern is whether the 31-year-old will still be with the club on August 17. Additionally, can manager Arteta rely on the seasoned Ghanaian international to remain fit and play alongside the impactful Declan Rice for what could be a pivotal season?

Oulad M’Hand Salah – 6/10

Struggled to make an impact in the opening 45 minutes before boss Arteta replaced the young attacker with club captain Martin Odegaard.

Ethan Nwaneri -6.5/10

Flitted in and out of the match while displaying vision, flair, verve and technique. Another with high hopes for this season

Fabio Vieira – 7/10

Slotted home with aplomb to put the Gunners ahead

Reiss Nelson – 6.5/10

Will surely have added further value to his transfer value following his assist for Fabio Vieria’s well-taken goal on 18 minutes

Eddie Nketiah – 6/10

Five minutes before halftime, Neto, the Cherries’ keeper and captain, was tested. However, there are doubts about whether the Lambeth-born striker will still be with the club for the Premier League opener against Wolves on August 17, considering his frequent misfires last season.

Substitutes:

Martin Odegaard – 7/10

Replaced Salah during the interval

Omar Rekik – 5/10

Lost possesion prior to Semenyo’s leveller but will be better for the experience

Jakub Kiwior – 7/10

Smashed home the penalty winner and looked sharp after coming on just after the hour mark

Dovetailed well with Odegaardf during his cameo appearance and cooly slotted home his penalty

Lively but raw. Will be looking to kick on with the first team next term after making his League Cup bow last season

Gabriel Jesus – 7/10

Looked sharp in his No9 role

Leandro Trossard – 6.5/10

Hit the post during the shootout as the Belgium made his first appearance since the Euros
